What is a good workout routine for a young mma trainer who doesnt have any equipment?
April 17th, 2010 | by admin |Im looking to get in shape to be a good mma fighter, what workouts can i do without equipment? Are there any good websites for this stuff? Thanks.
Look into body weight exercises.
Top two guys I know on the subject are Matt Furey and Ross Enamait. I’ve got videos from Matt and a book from Ross. Both have great info, but I like Ross’s style better.
The two big things you can look up easily right now and find instructions on are hindu squats and hindu pushups. Just search youtube for "bodyweight exercise" or pushup variations and such.
What really makes bodyweight exercise effective is the different ways you can do it. High-rep, quick; low-rep, slow cadence; static contraction holds. You can build muscle differently based on how you train it.

Do pushups sit ups squats leg lifts and other of those types of exercises. Have a partner to wrestle and spar with? Its pretty limite without equip, at least get a bag or mats or something?

Hey! your just like me
Push ups, do 20
then do shadow boxing (air fighting) for 3 mins
back to 20 pushups
, then 20 sit ups
shadow box 3 mins more
and work out , it works good trust me

train ROCKY style. Do push ups, set ups, pull ups, & lots of runing. Use your surroundings chair & anything that is heavy. You can fill trash bags with water. For something to punch get a old couch cushion or a bunch of old pillows & duct tap it to a board (make sure to duct tape the whole thing). Go dumpster diving to find old weight equipment like a bent to do bench presses on, old dumb bells, & exercise bikes that someone doesn’t want.
Over time try to save money to buy nicer equipment but for now collect what you can.

The best thing you can do is pick up a copy of Matt Furey’s book "combat conditioning" he actually proposes it is better to work out with out weights!
