Should all work-out equipment be removed from prisons so prisoners don’t come out more menacing than before?

They can still get exercise by walking and running about the yard, but they don’t get to lift weights and become hulking piles of muscle. They get to get SMALLER because they’re just sitting in a cell most of their day (unless they want to do hundreds of sit-ups and push-ups.)

I would only support this if in place of the gym spaces they would expand upon libraries and educational opportunities.

Getting hooked on push-ups is common in prison, those guys don’t do hundreds of push-ups a day, they do thousands. Finding things for prisoners to do is one of the real problems that prisons face. So if you want to help it would be better to suggest ways to employ prisoners that would help them to reintegrate into society rather than to make suggestions that make it more difficult to manage our prisons.
