Do you really need heavy equipment to work out?
February 9th, 2010 | by admin |I see all these heavy equipment ads these days supplying people with the necessary methods of getting fit and in shape, but I ask, is all this equipment really necessary? What ever happened to old fashioned methods? I mean come on people, it’s not like the bowflex has been around since the beginning of the word "workout". Yet, everywhere I look, I see workout ideas that involve heavy equipment. Isn’t there something you can do with a simple pair of weights and your own feet, legs, arms and body?
In my opinion, the most effective weight training is done by using your own body as weights. There are many exercises you can do this way, like pushup, crunches and situps. However, there is a difference: doing weight training with your own body works at groups of muscle at a time, while weight machines are designed to isolate a muscle and focus on it. But you can still get a quality workout with basic training, and you do not need to go to the gym to see results.

Not really no. The truth of the matter is, most people think that if you do push ups and crunches, that it will be enough to gain considerable muscle. Well consider this: What are you lifting when you do push ups and crunches? YOUR BODY! After a short while of doing these exercises, your muscles get used to the weight of your body and the exercise becomes novel. Hence the need for weights. If you want to advance your strength, you have to push your body further.

no, you only need some dumb bells and a pull up bar (or something you can do pull ups on). Do some push ups, pull ups, sit ups, squats and lunges. Body weight goes a long way for strength. Keep it high impact, meaning that it’s best to mix these up in a circuit. Go on youtube and look up body weight exercises and you’ll see some strong dudes.
Also, go to a playground. You’ll find everything you need to do pull ups, rows, dips. Then do some wind sprints, then drop down and do some push ups. Good luck!

I’ve had the best results using P90X. All you need for this program is a chin up bar, a set of dumbells, and a yoga mat. I’ve been using P90X and it is incredible! I cut my body fat from 13% down to 4.7% in just 90 days! My whole lifestyle has changed due to this program. The best part about it is you don’t have to pay for a gym membership (that you rarely use anyway). You do everything at home and the results are undeniable. This program will change your life!
