All people have testosterone, but men have it in much greater supply than women. In order to build muscle - tone or size - you need to stress them. If you are lifting light weight that doesn&#039;t challenge your muscles, you&#039;re doing little if any good at all.

Talk to a personal trainer at your gym. You don&#039;t have to hire them to get advice. Most gyms will also provide free instruction on the proper use of the equipment.

Don&#039;t be intimidated, and don&#039;t look at it all as daunting. Machines are great for a good workout, and will help you to get a good base of strength. Free weights bring other muscles into the exercise by requiring you to stabilize and balance the weights as well as lift them.
