What home fitness exercise machine would you recommend?

March 9th, 2010 | by admin |

I’m looking for a complete body workout, on a budget and with limited space

you can go outside to jog, put your money to use and get some resistance training equipment.. its true, the home gyms are not as good as the equipment available at commercial gyms, but if i had to recommend 1, i would say the bowflex is where its at.. its versatile, offers plenty of resistance, easy to use, durable, doesn’t take up a ton of room, it is a little pricey but i think it is worth it.. go to a home fitness equipment store if you have any in your area, and try the equipment out.. see what you like before committing to anything

Elliptical machine. All those all-in-one-home-workout-machines are crocks. That’s why gyms are so big. Otherwise it would just be a whole gym full of bowflexes.

There was such a thing as "cat aerobics" a few years ago (true story) using your cat as a work out weight. You can borrow mine, he’s a 16lb tom.

Have you ever wondered how to get exercise without actually going outside and doing a sport? Well here’s one great idea: Dance.

    Steps
Get ready. It’s best do do this after a shower because you feel clean and powered up. Wear some sweats, or you can just dance in whatever you’re wearing~ It doesn’t really matter. But if you are wearing long-sleeves, you may want to roll them up because you will feel too warm after a while.
Play any music that you like. It can be slow, (If it is, you should dance slowly and in a jazz-like way), or really fast, (hip hop dance is best with that).
Listen to the song once and get a feel for the rhythm. Once you have done that, do a couple of yoga stretches before you start. Do the kinds of stretches you would do in P.E. class or the kinds you see your mother doing!
DANCE. Just go mad all around your room. Oh, and also you might want to clean up your area, (room), because you’ll bump into stuff otherwise. Haaaaaave fun! <333

    Tips
    Don’t injure yourself. :-)

an airwalker. i’m getting one. its a cardiovascular workout that tones arms legs and buttocks- but thats also low impact, so is better for your joints. i had a rowing machine, and its very tough on the legs.(and not as fun as it looks when you’re on it for half an hour!)

Adjustable dumbbells and a bench. Find a pullup bar somewhere.

Load up the dumbbells for squats, lunges, stiff leg deadlifts and calf raises on the stairs for back and legs.

You can do pullups, bent over rows for back.

For chest, dumbbell press, dumbbell flies, pushups.

For shoulders, shoulder dumbbell press, shoulder lateral raise.

    For traps, shrugs.

    For biceps, curls

    For triceps, tricep extensions.

    Situps for abs.

Get outside and run for cardio.

    You’re done.

It is a matter of personal preferences. So here are mine:

    1) Bike and turbo trainer- You can do stationary cycling, and when you want to, just use the bike outside. Both are great cardio exercises.
(A rope to skip is also cheap and a hell of a cardio training).

    2) Set of dumbbells.- Easy to store and you can get a very good toning or mass building exercises with not much of a problem-

You can do cardio some days and resistance others, thus you have variety and rest days while still working out.
Add walking, or jogging, and a good diet and you are set mate!
