your spine has a natural arch in it. if you keep it straight while doing these exercises, it will put a lot of stress on your spine. so keeping it arch will help take off the pressure.

When you mean arching your back, do you mean to arch the lower back a little bit? I’m not to clear on why you have to arch the lower back… arent you supposed to keep it straight?
