Best calf-building exercises/ Best home aerobic exercises?

May 12th, 2010 | by admin |

Wow, I guess I do ask a lot of questions here.

Anyway I’d like to know what you think are the best exercises for building the muscles of the lower leg (the calves) so that I can prevent ‘killing’ them during running because this is my biggest weakness when I do any speed of running for any distance- my calves SUCK THAT BAD! Therefore I really need to know the best option I have for developing my calf muscles specifically (I mean exercises that FOCUS on the calves) so they can last for longer when I run and so they don’t have as many spasm attacks like a premature ejaculator having many jack attacks- unnecessary reference.

Also I’d like to know what’s the most fat-burning, muscle exercising/building exercise there is that I can at home. I don’t have indoor-rowing equipment but I do have a home-bike. However, this home-bike only really exercises my leg muscles and they don’t burn a lot of fat (I know that there are better aerobic exercises than cycling).

Thanks!
@theripper: How would the stationary bike help me if it only focuses on the quads?

Hello,

Well, you sound like you have exactly what you need. Get on the bike and ride hard, i mean kill yourself on hills and go for like 45 minutes and then do a 10 minute cool down ride. If you did that for 3 to 5 weeks 3 -5x a week, your calves will get built and will be very conditioned. Then running may come easier for you, but even if it doesn’t seem to be easier push through the pain and keep running. Your muscles will become accustomed to the workout and become much stronger.

Try it!
